Dimitris Al. Katsaprakakis is an assistant professor in the Technological Educational Institute (TEI) of Crete, School of Mechanical Engineers. He completed his studies in the National Technical University of Athens, School of Mechanical Engineers in 1997 and his PhD thesis in March 2007 on wind parks’ penetration in isolated power systems. He works as a researcher in the Wind Energy and Power Plants Synthesis Laboratory in Heraklion Crete. His scientific research field expands in renewable energy subjects, mainly in the synthesis of power systems of large and small size (decentralized) based on renewable energy sources (electricity systems: combined operation of wind parks and pumped-storage systems, of small wind turbines and photovoltaic panels; buildings: solar collector and biomass burners, geothermal exchangers, etc.). As a mechanical engineer he accomplishes feasibility and application studies for power systems of large scale based on renewable energy sources. His work is published in several articles in journals and conferences’ proceedings.
Dimitris G. Christakis is an engineer teaching at the TEI of Crete Wind Energy Laboratory. He has contributed in the Wind Energy Technology as Wind Motors and related infrastructure designer, wind park development consultant, and researcher in fields related to energy systems’ scientific and technical conception. He has taught a series of lessons in many Universities and institutions and mainly in the TEI of Crete Mechanical Engineering Department. He has supervised a series of research projects mainly in the area of Wind Energy and related fields. Socioeconomic aspects related to the Energy Systems Market and aspects related to the Power Quality and management are the main subjects of his research interest.
